It has been reported that
the Graceland mansion character is to remain despite a massive overhaul to the
Graceland complex in Memphis. There is no specific timetable according to Kevin
Kern, a spokesman for EPE Inc. In particular, plans to tear down the
128-room Heartbreak Hotel and replace it with an entertainment complex,
two 400-room hotels and restaurants, is still on the drawing board,
said Kern "Don't expect the shag carpeting in the Graceland mansion's Jungle Room
to be taken up and replaced with hardwood floors...
Elvis
Presley's Graceland Mansion is a
national landmark. we will NOT be making any changes like that! You don't change a
national landmark,'' said Kern. "There's always the process of
maintaining a place, but that doesn't mean you have to make changes.
You clean it up. You trim the trees and change out plants, but you
don't change the house. Graceland mansion will always be like it was..." |

The interior of the
Graceland Mansion
was changed
before it was open to the public
(see above)
However, Priscilla Presley only
changed it back to what it looked like
when she lived there? It seems Ms
Presley did not like Linda Thompson's
"red theme" interior (and
who could blame her)
which was re-modeled only 2 years
before Elvis died. To give
Thompson her dues, Priscilla did keep
the jungle room, poolroom the same. Graceland
